What makes Thailand unforgettable.
A snapshot of why travelers from Türkiye keep coming back.
Where to start.
Required documents
The baseline checklist consular officers expect from Turkish applicants. Specific cases (students, business, family reunification) may require additional documents.
- Passport valid at least 6 months beyond entry date
- Confirmed return or onward flight ticket (often checked at boarding in Türkiye)
- Proof of accommodation for the first nights (hotel booking or host address)
- Proof of sufficient funds — at least 10,000 THB per person / 20,000 THB per family (cash, card, or statement)
- Travel medical insurance covering Thailand (strongly recommended, sometimes requested)
- Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) — submitted online within 3 days before arrival
- For stays over 30 days: Tourist Visa (TR) application form + 2 photos + visa fee
- For TR applicants: bank statements for last 3 months and itinerary
Apply smarter, not harder.
Visa-free entry is 30 days for tourism — do NOT overstay; fines are 500 THB per day up to 20,000 THB.
For longer trips, apply for a Tourist Visa (TR — 60 days, extendable +30) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara or Consulate in Istanbul before travel.
Complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online within 72 hours before flight — it replaces the old TM6 paper form.
Airlines often refuse boarding without a confirmed onward ticket, even for visa-free entry — always have one.
Visa-free entries within 6 months are limited; if you've recently visited Thailand, calculate the 60-day annual cap.
For visa-free entry no Turkish-side paperwork is needed. For Tourist Visas and longer stays, applications are handled directly by the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara and the Honorary Consulate-General in Istanbul.
When to go and what to budget.
November–February brings cooler, drier weather; March–May is hottest and June–October is the rainy season.
Affordable — roughly $40–90 per day per person outside luxury resorts.
Why applications get refused.
The most common reasons Turkish applicants are refused for Thailand. Address each one proactively in your file.
Study, work, and business notes.
Courses require an Education (ED) visa arranged through the institution, not visa-free entry.
Employment needs a Non-Immigrant B visa plus a work permit; tourism entry does not allow work.
Business meetings beyond 30 days typically require a Non-Immigrant B visa.
