1. Weak proof of intent to return
The most common reason behind a refusal is that the officer was not convinced you would leave the Schengen Area before your visa expires. This is usually expressed on the refusal sheet as doubts about your "intention to leave".
- Show stable employment, ongoing studies, or a registered business in Türkiye.
- Include property deeds, a rental contract, or family responsibilities.
- Make sure your trip is short and clearly bounded by return flights.
2. Insufficient or unstable finances
Officers look for funds that comfortably cover your whole trip and that arrived in your account in a believable way. A balance that appears suddenly the week before applying is a red flag.
3. Inconsistent or unclear itinerary
If your flights, hotel bookings, and cover letter disagree about dates or cities, the officer cannot trust any of them. Every document should tell the same story.
4. Wrong consulate or main destination
You must apply to the country where you will spend the most nights, or your first point of entry if nights are equal. Applying to the wrong mission is a frequent, entirely avoidable refusal.
5. Missing or invalid travel insurance
Schengen rules require medical travel insurance with at least €30,000 of coverage, valid across the entire area for your full stay. Policies that cover only one country, or fall short of the threshold, lead to refusals.
